A title gives us a starting point. We also need to understand the systems, the problems, and the responsibilities of the hire. That conversation helps us decide where to search.

IN SCOPE

“Backend Engineer” building distributed systems

Consensus, replication, and correctness under failure are part of the role. We'd look for engineers who have worked on those problems.

MAY NOT BE

“Infrastructure Engineer” working with managed services

Cloud configuration and service integration call for a different background. We'd discuss the scope with you before taking on the search.
